It was late in the day when I finally approached Overcoat Peak. The peak was an imposing black rock, castle-like mass coming up out of the permanent snow of the Overcoat Glacier which seems to reach around the entire eastern side of the summit block. No way was I going to be able to climb any route on this side. Hopefully the slot of 40 degree snow on the north side, mentioned by Beckey's Guide, will look a bit more promising.
