Apex Mountain is a gentle peak with a precipitous NE side that drops down to beautiful Tungsten Lake. Apex is easily climbed by leaving the trail at Apex Pass and hiking cross country up the easy slopes to the high point along the rim of the NE side. Great views can be had of Cathedral Peak with its near vertical south face and Amphitheater Mountain sprawling like a huge, immobile octopus.
