It is socked in and threatening snow as I climb carefully up the final part of the steep chimney hoping that this gully leads me to the summit of Formidable. There is much vegetation and some flowers growing out of cracks and on ledges. Footing is good but it is questionable whether I will be able to stop a fall if I slip. Then I spot a bright spot of blue in the rocks above me. A blue sling! This must be a rappel anchor left by a party that, hopefully, reached the summit of this giant peak. Well, I won't be using it for a rappel anchor so I remove it and stuff it into my day pack... a souvenir! Then I continue upward.
