After my unsuccessful attempt on Cloudcomb I move north and try Bearcat Ridge. The topography of Bearcat Ridge is very similar to Cloudcomb. The south side is a steeply furrowed ridge with a narrow summit block on top. I plan my route much as on Cloudcomb but as I near the summit area I again have to choose whether to
angle to the left or the right. This time I choose to angle to the next gully to the right and find that I should have stayed on my original course. Again it is too late to reclimb the correct gully and I am flumoxed for the second time in a row. At least this time I get down in time to avoid a bivy!
My route on Bearcat Ridge... another foul-up!
More later.
